PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of DeKalb, County of St. Lawrence, State of New York, will accept sealed bids for the purchase of a 2015 ten-wheeler dump truck with a 14’ box, capable of handling plow and wing.
All sealed bids must be filed with the Town Clerk of the Town of DeKalb at the Town Hall in DeKalb Junction, New York, no later than 12:00 noon on June 10, 2015.
Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes.
All bids must contain a non-collusive bidding certification.
Bids will be opened at 3:00 p.m. on June 11, 2015 at the Town Hall in DeKalb Junction, New York.
The detailed specifications are available at the office of the Town Clerk, Town of DeKalb, CR 17, DeKalb Junction, New York 13630.
Please note that the Town has recently passed a standardization policy with regard to International trucks. This policy is available from the Town Clerk, Town of DeKalb.

Singer / Storyteller at the Meetinghouse Museum June 7

Tom Walsh will perform an afternoon of funny songs and stories Sunday, June 7 from 3-5 at the Meetinghouse Museum, 696 E. DeKalb Rd., DeKalb Jct. The Meetinghouse Museum is across from the Hermon/DeKalb School and parking is available at the school. The concert is free and is entertainment for all ages.
This one of a kind singer and storyteller lets everyone join in the fun as he sings funny songs and tells funny stories about life on the farm. Tom is a graduate of SUNY Canton and has performed all across the country. He is especially known for his educational programs offered for school children and community groups.
The afternoon is the first in the DeKalb Historical Association’s Performance series. The series is made possible in part by the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and Administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
The Meetinghouse Museum is wheelchair accessible.

What: Logo for the Town of DeKalb
When: June 1, 2015
Where: DeKalb Town Board
Why: The Town of DeKalb does not have a “Logo” and is looking for talent within the area to design a logo for the town. The chosen design will be used as part of the Town’s Letterhead, as well as, on other appropriate forms.
If you have an idea for the logo, please submit it to the Town Board, no later than June 1, 2015. The submitted design of the logo should be no larger than 8.5” x 11”.
The final design will need to have the ability to be reduced or enlarged as necessary.
The recipient of the chosen design will receive a $50 gift certificate redeemable at any business within the Town of DeKalb.
Time is short, so start putting your ideas on paper. Just think, your art might be on the Town of DeKalb’s letters for years to come.
The content of the design should relate to DeKalb, its past, present or future.
This contest is open to all ages and more than one idea may be submitted.

Photo contest for Iroquois Gas Transmission System Calendar

Iroquois produces an annual calendar featuring scenes from many of their pipeline communities. This calendar is provided free of charge to over 17,000 residents/businesses, public officials and emergency responders in their 65 communities as part of their Public Awareness Program.
Submitting photos taken in all four seasons may increase the chance of selection; however, only one photograph will be selected per community. If your photo is selected for inclusion, a $250 donation will be made to your community’s recreation or beautification program.
Guidelines for photo submission:
Photo must be of an outdoor scene and not feature individuals or businesses a primary subject
High-resolution (300 dpi minimum)
Horizontal 8.5 x 11” format only
Photo should not be more than 3 years old
Submitter agrees to provide Iroquois the right to publish the photo and represents that they have all the rights necessary to grant such license
Submissions must be received by July 31, 2015

The Town of DeKalb Highway Department offers a spring drop off of rubbish at the Town Barn located at 2810 SH 812 DeKalb, as well as, a spring and fall curbside pick-up.
The drop off days will be the last Thursday in March and the first Saturday in April. Thursday’s time is 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. Saturday’s drop off time is 8:00 am – 12 noon. Items that will be accepted are as follows: trash, household furnishings, appliances, etc. (no household garbage)
Only two tires off the rims will be accepted from each house hold.
In the spring, the Highway Department picks up on the North Side of Route 11 and the South Side of Route 11 in the fall.
During the Memorial Day week in May, the Highway Department will pick up all curb/roadside trash, household furnishings, appliances, etc. (no household garbage) at all Town of DeKalb homes located on the North Side of Route 11. Residents are encouraged to use the weekend to assemble items they wish to discard. All items must be at the curb/roadside by 6:00 AM and pick up will begin on Tuesday. Trucks will only make one pass for each street/road. No exceptions.
For the fall pickup, the Department will use the week of Columbus Day on Tuesday. The Highway Department will pick up all curb/roadside trash, household furnishings, appliances, etc. (no household garbage) at all Town of DeKalb homes located on the South Side of Route 11. Again, residents are encouraged to use the weekend to assemble items for pickup, as all items must be curb/roadside by 6:00 AM and pick up will begin on Tuesday. Trucks will only make one pass for each street/road. No exceptions.
North side is any property along Route 11 towards the Oswegatchie River and beyond. The South side is any property along Route 11 towards Bigelow and to the Hermon Town Line. In the hamlet of DeKalb Junction, it is in the direction of Hermon.
