NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF TAX ROLL AND WARRANT

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that the undersigned, the collector of taxes of the
Town of DeKalb, has received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes for the Town of DeKalb for the fiscal year January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the undersigned will receive the taxes listed on said roll at her office located 2907 County Route 17, Town of DeKalb, St. Lawrence County, New York, during business hours as follows: Monday 8am to 2pm, Tuesday noon to 6pm, Wednesday 8am to 2pm, Thursday noon to 6pm and Friday 8am to 2pm.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOICE, that taxes may be paid to the undersigned without interest on or before the thirty-first day of January. Taxes received after the 30-day penalty free period shall have interest added at the rate of one per cent for each month or fraction thereof until such taxes are paid or until return of unpaid taxes to the County Treasurer pursuant to law. The date for the return of unpaid taxes to the County Treasurer is June 1, 2017.

**NEW** TOWN RETURNED CHECK POLICY

Town of DeKalb is committed to the total collection of all fees/taxes due to the Town. Any check that is returned to the Town Clerk/Tax Collector for insufficient funds will be addressed in the following manner. Town Clerk/ Tax Collector will make every attempt to collect the fee/tax payment.
If the check presenter is local (lives within the Town of DeKalb), the Town Clerk/Tax Collector, will call the bank to determine if funds are currently available to resubmit the check. If funds are available, the check will be resubmitted by the Town Clerk/Tax Collector. An $18.00 fee will be charged to the fee/tax account for insufficient funds.
If the check presenter is local (lives within the Town of DeKalb), and has had checks returned previously for insufficient funds, the check will be returned to the sender. A letter will accompany the returned check, to inform the sender that only a money order, cashier’s check or cash will be accepted. The sender will also be required to pay the $18.00 fee for the returned check.
If the check presenter is not local (lives outside of the Town of DeKalb), the check will be returned to the sender. A letter will accompany the returned check, to inform the sender that only a money order or a cashier’s check for the amount due plus the $18.00 returned check fee will be accepted.
All payments must reach the Town Clerk/Tax Collector by the due date or be posted marked no later than the due date. If not, additional interest/penalty may be accrued.
The Town Supervisor will be made aware of each check returned for insufficient funds.

Town of DeKalb Offers Options for Tax Payments

The Town of DeKalb is now offering you another way to pay your taxes. You can now pay by credit/debit card. You can either pay online or in the office. If you choose to use your card, there will be a small fee that is charged by the company working with the town. The town does not collect this fee, only the amount for your taxes will be collected by the Town Clerk.
You can continue to pay your taxes by check, money order or cash, if you choose.
